Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi there!

I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. We were able to spend the holiday with my mother-in-law, her hubby, and my brother-in-law. I was super disappointed when I found out that I wouldn't be able to cook this year. I'm so thankful that they cooked a yummy meal for us. I also got to talk to my big brother, which was great.

This is the time of year when I get very nostalgic and really miss my mom. I find myself thinking about what she would think or do if she were here. Or how we would have celebrated the holidays together. Or her thoughts on us having a baby. I have all these questions about her pregnancy and what I was like as an infant. These aren't really things I heard about very much...I probably know more about Brian's infancy than my own! My family was just never big on reminiscing on the past. Anyhow, I like to think of all the things I am thankful for - these things include: Brian, my family (including in-laws!), friends who make my life so full and happy, our puppies, our freedom, my ability to do what I want to do (academically), and of course, our little bundle of joy. There's so much to be thankful for and this is just a little bit of my very, very extensive list. Thanks to all of you who care enough about me to read this thing and follow mine and Brian's exciting adventure.

After the holiday, we spent the rest of the weekend packing, as we are FINALLY scheduled to move on Friday. I hope it doesn't get pushed back again! I'm sleeping in that house on Friday night! We may not have hot water or heat but I'll be there!! The pool starts on December 3 and then, of course, that Friday is an extremely important day! If you don't know what it is, I'm not telling you. Brian motivated me to do a LOT of packing this weekend by telling me that he'd take me to the Bee Movie if I was really good. I was REALLY good and he took me to see it! It was so cute and I HIGHLY recommend it! I just love Seinfeld though.

Ok, and in final news, my tummy is growing. Yes, it is. I'm either chubby or pregnant - hopefully it will look a little bit more like a pregnant belly in the near future, but here it is:

Vegas

Hi there!

We just returned from a fun filled weekend in Vegas. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were able to hang out with Jeff and Holly (my brother and his fiance) for a few hours. There are so cute together! Here are some pictures of the evening. We even had margaritas...of course mine was a virgin.

Then we went to an 11 pm showing of Chris Rock. He's a good performer but I don't think he's very funny. His jokes are quite racist and make me uncomfortable. I also think he swears too much and is very vulgar. Needless to say, I was exhausted BEFORE the show began, so when we were done at 1:30 am I was barely able to open my eyes. Then we headed back to the Red Rock Hotel - which is quite a ways from the Strip. Brian's car tells him how many miles he has left on that tank and he was desperately avoiding getting gas BUT....the car went to --. That means there are NO miles left. What it really means (as we came to find out) is that there is one more gallon left in the tank. Well, he also has a feature on his car that tells him where the nearest gas station is...so we thought we were safe. We turned on that function and followed the directions, against our better judgment. We ended up in a cul-de-sac with no gas and a freaked out, tired me. My only response was "I don't push." I'm pregnant - and I'm cranky - and I'm tired and there's no way he was going to get me to push. Anyhow, we coasted down a major street that hit another major street and - WA LA! Gas. I was never so excited to be at a gas station in my whole life. And then I about passed out.

Saturday was spent shopping. We arrived at the mall at 11:50 am and left at 7:30 pm. We walked and walked and shopped and shopped. With a new baby and a new house on the way there was a lot of shopping to be done. I bought some maternity clothes (which were on sale, of course) and we got Brian a Christmas present. At 8 pm we saw Jerry Seinfeld. He was the funniest person in the whole world! We had an amazing time at the show, laughing until I cried. He has great delivery.

This morning we woke up, took a belly picture - it feels bigger than it looks - and drove home. Now I have some work to do. The puppies are sleepily back at home. I think they enjoyed their weekend at camp.

My bump is growing!

Well, if you scroll down to the last post you can see the 11 weeks belly picture. This is the 12 week belly picture and it is, in my opinion, substantially larger than it was last week. Or maybe those are the 2 cinnamon rolls I ate Saturday morning? There IS a bump there - no arguing!

Gender prediction test

Today I had lunch with my friend Lauren Kinkade and she got us a gender prediction test. It says it's 90% accuratre, but who REALLY knows? Basically you pee in a cup and mix it with some chemicals and then check the color (sound a lot like the old Drano experiment). If it turns a dark green then you're having a boy...stays yellow then it's a girl.

Anyone care to guess what color is turned?

GREEN! ARE WE HAVING A BOY?! What do you think?

I THINK SO!

Updates!

Hi there,

This has been an adventurous week! It began with Thor getting neutered on Monday. Poor guy has been wearing a cone all week - which earned him the nickname "Conehead". He hasn't figured out that his head is bigger than it used to be, so he is constantly running into people and things. Here are some sad (but cute) pictures of our little Conehead. Luckily he is healing well and we will take the cone off tonight. Mom, why are you doing this to me?
Nala: Haha - Troublemaker!
Thor: I'm so sad.

In other news, Brian and I had our baby check-up appointment today. It was really emotional for me. I was afraid something had happened to the baby (just because I'm a worry-wart- there was no reason to think this). I lost 4 pounds which the doctor said is fine, but he'd like to see me start gaining soon. The fat on my body seems to be repositioning because I'm getting quite a pooch in my tummy area and pants are a little bit looser in my butt and legs. Perhaps this is because I no longer button them?

I asked the Dr. to do another ultrasound. Although we couldn't have the "good" ultrasound, he brought in a handheld machine to ease my worries a little bit. The baby was upside down (ready to pop out in 6 months) and it kicked me! Dr. Tsui said - "Oh it's kicking you." I started laughing which shook the whole ultrasound but I couldn't help it. It was just so emotional to see our baby and his little heartbeat.

We have another check-up on December 10th and then we have the "anatomical/structural" on December 24th. What a perfect Christmas present! To find out the gender of our adorable baby. Oh, and I don't have much of a belly but this is what I do have. On Sunday I will be out of the first trimester which is just SO exciting!

My pooch last Sunday - it's grown since then!
