Updates

Hi all,
Lots of stuff going on these days - sorry to be MIA for so long. I will try to be better about posting now that we are in town for a little while.

We went to Coronado with my mother-in-law and father-in law the weekend after Father's Day. It was a lot of fun and a tradition that I am glad we started and hope will continue. Hunter really enjoyed exploring the beach and watching people walk by while we sat at the restaurants. We enjoyed having some time with Brian's mom and her hubby.

We returned from Coronado on Monday morning and had my three girlfriends from "grad school camp" waiting to see us. I met these girls summer of 03 when we all went to a "camp" of sorts at UCLA to teach us how to get into graduate school. All of us got in (yay!) and we have seen one another every year since then. The girls, Kim, Katie and Zoe, stayed with us until Thursday/Friday. We had so much fun and ate SO much. I actually got one night off of Hunter duty (thank you Brian) and was able to have a nice dinner out with the girls. It was SO much fun. I also was able to get a babysitter for one afternoon so we could go shopping and see a girly movie (The Proposal - highly recommended). It is always so nice to see them, but I'd say it's difficult because they aren't used to being around babies and I am a mom before anything else. It made me feel like I couldn't please everyone because I wanted them to have fun, but I had to think of what was best for Hunter first.

So, Katie left on Friday morning and we immediately took off for San Diego to stay at our new time share. We were worried about traffic because it was Fourth of July weekend, but we only had like a 30 minute delay...which really isn't all that bad. We had SO much fun that weekend but it was quite crowded there. I wished we could have stayed longer because I enjoy having Brian home from work with me :-) BUT we went home on Sunday afternoon.

Unfortunately we had a death in the family late July 4th/ early July 5th. Vicki (my sister-in-law) had moved to Boston to be close to her in-laws. Shortly thereafter her mother-in-law fell ill and she passed away. We went to Boston on a red-eye Monday evening to take care of our beautiful niece so that Vicki and her husband could take some time to mourn. It wasn't intended to be a "fun" trip, but it sure was nice to see them and my niece, Tessa. Tessa is now 20 months old and talking so much. She has a big personality on her. The thing that struck me the most was that Tessa would SIT for long periods of time and color or read a book or something. Seriously? I didn't know that children could actually sit still. Hunter isn't even still when he's sleeping. It was wonderful to see Vicki and her house and her family. We came home Friday evening....it was a good thing because we had a very important birthday party on Saturday!

The Burkes, Bridget, Morgan and baby Keagan are probably our best friends. Bridget and I hang out 2-3 days a week. When Keagan sees Hunter he gets so excited that he shrieks in delight. It is SO cute. Keagan turned 1 this weekend (technically today). It is so hard to believe that he is already 1 because we met while Bridget and I were pregnant. Anyhow, we were not going to miss Keagan's birthday party for anything - and we were there! It was such a fun party. All of the kids (and I think the parents too) had a great time. I had such a great time that I actually went home and napped for 2 hours. It was exhausting trying to keep up with all the little ones. We are so proud of Keagan for hitting his first birthday with such style. He is such a loved little man!

Today we had a lazy Sunday. We actually didn't even leave the house. Brian woke up with Hunter, who was nice enough to sleep until 8 am. Then Brian made us breakfast and we heated the pool. In the afternoon the Burkes came over and we all enjoyed the pool together. At night, Brian and I put Hunter to bed (after BBQing outside) and then went back in the pool just the two of us. I really appreciate the time we get together these days.

Sometimes I get very nervous about the next baby coming - which I know is entirely natural. For now my body is not mine and BOY do I notice it! I feel so different this pregnancy and I am never able to just feel like a normal person. I am always bloated and uncomfortable, constipated and tired. Of course, this all goes along with being pregnant and Brian reminds me that I felt the same way with Hunter. Luckily I am 10 weeks pregnant now, so I should start feeling better soon. I do love being pregnant and knowing that I am growing a little person inside of me. I worry though about the lack of sleep and how my relationship with Hunter will change. I have all the questions about balancing the babies and Brian, sleep and new schedules. Hunter is at such a fun age that I worry that I won't be prepared to have another newborn. BUT then I remind myself that my mom had me and my brother just 10.5 months apart. That's right, we were born in the same year. We both felt loved and cherished. So, hopefully I can be 1/2 the mom that my mommy was and our kids will be well-cared for and loved.

For now, it's past my bedtime but I felt a need to post and share our most recent adventures with you...so here they are.

I'll post again soon - I promise.
