My Little Valentine

It's Valentine's Day week! As such we had to be sure to show our little boy TONS of love. Ok, we do that every week. It was super busy, trying to see lots of friends and go to the doctor.

Hunter isn't doing anything SO new this week, but he is a REALLY big fan of taking all of the books off of his bookshelf...over and over and over again. No matter how many times I put them back on the shelf, he takes them off. I think it's a lesson in patience. :-) He can stand, as he is below, without holding onto anything for about a minute, which prompts the doctor to think he will be walking on his own soon! I am not ready for our little guy to walk yet. He can climb stairs, but I didn't get any pictures of it yet - I think it would be irresponsible parenting to be taking pictures without a helper. We don't need him going backwards down the stairs.
One day we went to Ryan's house to hang out with her. Nora and Hunter crawled through this triangular-thingy Nora is walking already! She started at about 10.5 months!

On Wednesday we went to the doctor for Hunter's 9 month visit. He got one shot and then we went to the park with friends. I had been watching my diet very carefully for about a week, and by the time we got to the doctor, Hunter's weight was way down. The doctor asked me to give him formula (supplement my breastmilk). That night I gave Hunter 2 full bottles and he downed both of them rather quickly. I couldn't believe it. I was struggling with the idea of giving him formula, and was extremely sad that my milk wasn't enough to support him for the first year of his life. Well, when I realized that it could be my milk supply, I started eating more. Now I have a TON of milk and no longer have to give him formula. I think it's a good tool to keep in my back pocket - just in case supply goes down or he refuses to latch onto the boob, but I will mostly continue to nurse. Now my struggle is in getting him to eat more solid foods. Like his mom he is very headstrong and refuses to eat if HE doesn't put it into his mouth on his own. If my mommy were here she would laugh because she used to insist that I would have a child JUST like me one day - and I used to say "good". Now I have that child who wants to, in my 5 year old words, "Do it mine own self". The doctor says he needs to gain a pound in the next month or we have to go to the nutritionist because he's falling in the weight percentiles for the past 3 months in a row! He's only 17 lbs 15 ozs as a 9 month old baby - many of my friends have babies who are far younger who weigh much much more. He's still healthy though, so I'm trying not to worry about it.....for now.....Look how happy he is, anyways!

He swung on the swings with Chance, his 10 month old buddy from Mommy n Me

On Sunday Kaew and Eric came to visit. Kaew loves our little guy and hopes Eric will want one soon.

Valentine's Day was very special this year because I had 2 Valentine's! Brian and I went for a wonderful couple's massage in the morning and they provided chocolates and pomegranate sparling cider (SO good). At nighttime I made one of our favorite dishes - Shrimp Alexander from Morton's followed by a yummy souffle. It would have been a romantic dinner if the baby had cooperated :-)

He's cruising on the stairs

On Friday we went to a playdate at Lori and Chance's house. It was SO much fun to hang out with the mommies from Mommy N Me.

Lori and Hunter

Last night Keagan brought his parents over for dinner. By the time they left, both boys were in their jammies. So cute!

Woops - this picture is from Sunday brunch with Kaew and Eric

The 5 of us
We also had brunch on Monday with the Juha's - they have a daughter who is 3 days older than Hunter. It was fun to see them together!
This week it is supposed to rain a lot - so we'll see how it goes! The little guy just woke up from his 2 hour nap (woohoo!) so we'll go run a few errands or something.
We had lunch today with our doula, ELizabeth, who is one of the most beautiful, calm people I have ever met. She is a joy to be around and I look forward to her delivering our next munchkin :-)

Don't stress about his weight. I am sure he will keep going up. I wish Nathan weighed that. He will be 9 months on Sunday and only weighes 13 lbs 7 ozs.
